Job Title:        Laboratory Associate
Department:       Chemistry (2 positions) and Microbiology (1)
Reports To:        Lab Manager
Status:                 Non-Exempt

 Will be responsible for performing routine laboratory testing and analyses. Will work independently on projects and tests as well as assisting more senior level analysts.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine tests and analyses in a manner that utilizes GMP/GLP practices.

  • Executes routine tasks such as data collection, calculations and calibrations.

  • Helps in maintaining an organized laboratory area.

  • Other job related activities as assigned or needed.

Job Requirements:

Education:  Bachelors degree in relevant science field preferred, or a combination of college plus laboratory experience. Experience with food testing a definite plus. Regular and 2nd shift available.

Experience: Previous experience in a laboratory environment preferred.
 

Job Title:        On-Site QA/Regulatory Client Services Manager
Department:       Client Services
Status:                 Exempt

 We are currently recruiting for someone who will be on-site at our client's location as a Shuster employee and who will act as the liaison between Shuster, our client and vendors.

In this role you will work directly with our client's management team to support their overall quality standards and protect the store brand equity. You will be responsible for developing systems and processes that ensure the highest level of store brand product quality in the drugstore industry.

Job Requirements:

  • Monitor and improve overall quality for the store brand in order to reduce chance of recalls and customer dissatisfaction.

  • Coordinate product withdrawals, recalls and regulatory filings/requirements for Store Brand or national brand (i.e. Class 1, 2, 3 and FDA recall audits, adverse events etc.).

  • Measure vendor compliance to quality standards (regular reporting/scorecard) Assist with EPA product registrations.

  • Assist with EPA product registrations

  • Develop systems and procedures to maintain data and track product/vendor performance; initiate and implement appropriate corrective action plans when deficiencies/deviations are found.

  • Coordinate all aspects of the QA program between the analytical testing laboratory, the vendors and the client.

  • Coordinate testing priorities and vendor cGMP audits.

  • Support Category Managers with expert opinion on product quality and regulatory compliance for domestic and imported products.

  • Coordinate testing priorities and vendor audits.

  • Recommend product improvement ideas that will benefit consumers.

  • Keep up to date with current FDA and ancillary regulatory bodies as related to regulations and guidance etc.

  • Review label/labeling for regulatory compliance to FDA, FLPA, CTFA etc.

  • Develop action plans and recommendations for products that do not meet standards.

  • Track and trend customer complaints and returns and respond to alert or action limits accordingly.

Necessary Skills: 

  • BS in related field. 5-7 years experience with private label chain drugstore product categories.

  • Knowledge of product and regulatory compliance for the following: Cosmetics, Foods, Dietary Supplements, adjunct Medical Device, OTC Drugs and general merchandise

  • Extensive testing, quality assurance and regulatory background and the ability to understand and interpret laboratory data.

  • Excellent communication and rapport building skills. You will interface will all levels of management.

  • The ability to come up with dynamic innovative solutions and ideas and skilled recommendations to unique situations. Creative problem solver.

  • Ability to make presentations to Category Managers and Upper Management regarding the quality program.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.

Job Title:        Scientist 1
Department:       Chemistry 1st Shift
Reports To:        Manager of Chemistry Department
Status:                 Exempt Temporary Full - Time


This person performs routine tests and procedures without the need for supervision and utilizes GMP/GLP practices. Performs more complex/non-routine or detailed test and analyses under minimal supervision. Performs calculations, prepares reports, and assesses proper calibration and standardization of equipment and procedures. Implements tests and procedures requiring selection and adaptation of test equipment and test procedures. Records and analyzes data and prepares reports and procedures.

Job Requirements:

Education: Masters Degree in Chemistry preferred or Bachelor’s degree in science related field, with three years laboratory experience.

Experience: Familiarity with cGMP and GLP is desired.

Special Skills and Abilities: HPLC experience will be required.

Job Title:        Microbiology Manager
Department:       Microbiology Laboratory
Reports To:        Director, Laboratories
Status:                 Exempt

 Will be responsible for the technical and administrative management of department personnel and projects.

Some of the Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for laboratory compliance to Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Safety and operational policies, procedures and practices.

  • Perform and train analyst in more complex/non-routine or detailed test and analyses using GC and GC-MS

  • Responsible for the successful hiring, evaluating, training, promoting and developing of employees.

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of work orders for project and account managers.

  • Must exercise judgment in time management, work scheduling, project coordination, maintaining instruments, facilities and documentation of work.

  • Other job related activities as assigned or necessary.

Job Requirements:

Education:  Minimum of a Bachelors degree in related field and six (6) years experience.

Experience:  Relevant industry experience, particularly with food testing, pharmaceuticals, OTCs. Prior management experience required.

Other skills:  Demonstrated written, oral and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of in-house staff and clients. Familiarity with government agencies and regulations as they apply. Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet and E-Mail.

Job Title:        Director of Quality Assurance
Department:       Quality Assurance
Reports To:        General Manager
Status:                 Exempt


Director of QA with the professional qualifications, skill and experience to support all GLP and certification needs for the Canton facility. An independent subject matter expert.

Job Requirements:

Education: Masters Degree in Chemistry or Biology, minimum PhD preferred

Experience: Ten to fifteen years in a lab or pharmaceutical environment with QA responsibility

Special Skills and Abilities: subject matter expert on GLP certification, validation and industry regulations.
